History

1981– Non-Profit agency was created to provide “Private Care services to individuals in their home.”

1984 – Tulsa Area United Way granted membership and provided funds for a traditional visiting nurse program to be established that would serve the medically indigent.

1990 – The agency changed its name from NSI Health Care, Inc. to Visiting Nurse Association of Tulsa (VNA) to reflect its belief in home care services, and joined the Visiting Nurse Association of America.

1993 – The agency held its first annual Flu Prevention Program.

1994 – The agency was licensed by the Oklahoma State Department of Health under the new State of Oklahoma Home Care Licensing Act.

1998 – The agency expanded its commitment to Wellness Services by creating a foot care program and expanding its health screening program, offering pneumonia immunizations and TB testing.

1999 – The agency further expanded its Wellness Services by adding immunizations for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B. The agency created a cholesterol screening program.

2001 – The agency established a Wellness Program office in Oklahoma City.

2002 – Expanded its Wellness Services by adding immunizations for tetanus and meningitis.

The VNA of Tulsa is the only free standing, not-for-profit agency providing home health services in the State of Oklahoma.
